Talking Time - May 20th, 2020

This week, we are using gestures with our songs to promote communication, celebrating Better Hearing and Speech Month and give a little teaser on an exciting giveaway coming soon!

TIP OF THE WEEK

Using GESTURES and ACTIONS along with our songs can help your student better associate with specific words and sounds.

In addition to providing associative clues, gestures allow children to communicate their wants and needs before producing verbal speech. Pointing can indicate "go" or a palm up will communicate "stop" - for use in every day, non-verbal communication. Our songs are full of opportunities to introduce new gestures to your students!

BETTER HEARING AND SPEECH MONTH

As you know, May is Better Hearing and Speech Month - a time dedicated to promoting the awareness of audiology and speech language-pathology professions as well as the impact on the lives of children and adults with hearing, communication and feeding/swallowing issues.

We, at Kids Can Talk, have been honored to work with members of this industry for over 20 years and have seen, first hand, the impact on those assisted. It has been a true privilege to see your work and hear the stories of children speaking for the first time, making their first sound or communicating with gestures.

Please accept our most heartfelt appreciation for the work you do each day with your clients and students. This year is, as you know, extraordinary. As a group, speech-language pathologists and audiologists have had to adapt quickly to teletheraphy settings, provide treatment in hospitals and nursing homes while maintaining safe and healthy environments all while making adjustments in respective personal settings. For that, we are extremely grateful. And, so, so honored to be a part of your work.

As a token of our gratitude, please use THANKYOU15 for 15% off your next order at www.kidscantalk.com.

SECRETS, SECRETS!

Y'all, we have something so very exciting coming to you or the speech-language pathologist in your life next week... Be sure to watch for our TALKING TIME newsletter on May 27th and forward it to any and all speech-language pathologists in your Rolodex (those are still a thing, right?).

Until then, friends!
